Endometriosis is a condition where cells similar to those that line the uterus (endometrial cells) are found in other parts of the body, most commonly in the pelvis and reproductive organs.
Endometriosis affects 1 in 7 women of reproductive age in Australia. Endometriosis affects everyone differently, but common symptoms include painful periods, severe pelvic pain, heavy menstrual bleeding, bladder and bowel problems and fatigue. Endometriosis can severely impact quality of life and increase the risk for infertility and other pain conditions.
